Easy, Natural Ways To Lower Your Blood Pressure Without Drugs

By Valerie Alanati Increasing millions of people have high blood pressure, which puts them at risk for heart disease, heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and peripheral artery disease. Its no wonder that blood pressure medications in all their many forms are one of the drugs most frequently prescribed by doctors. But there are also a number of easy, natural ways to lower your blood pressure that have been proven effective. And natural methods are usually so safe that they can be used in and of themselves to lower your blood pressure or in combination with any medication. The many benefits to natural blood pressure reducing methods include: No annoying side effects No visits to the doctor No expensive prescriptions High level of safety for all ages Many are proven to work in clinical studies The bottom line: Few risks and many benefits Closely allied with natural remedies, there are numerous lifestyle changes that will help reduce and control hypertension. Yet despite their obvious benefits, lifestyle modifications are often difficult and frustrating for many people to accomplish. For example, smoking contributes to high blood pressure and it is as addictive as it is dangerous. One of the first things a doctor will tell a smoker is to stop smoking. But in spite of its many unhealthy, negative effects, its usually extremely difficult for smokers to beat their addiction. It often takes many tries for a smoker to quit for good and until then it takes a toll on your blood pressure and heart. Another beneficial, but difficult lifestyle change in our modern times is healthy eating. Its understandably difficult for someone born and bred on fried foods or junk foods to learn to be satisfied with steamed vegetables and other healthy foods. Despite the temporary difficulties any change always brings, lifestyle modifications that will help get your blood pressure to a healthy level are: Quitting Smoking Limiting Alcohol Reducing sodium Exercising, preferably 30 minutes each day Losing weight if you are overweight Eating a healthy diet Avoiding stress and getting genuine relaxation One of the most promising new methods is not just a natural remedy nor a lifestyle change but covers a bit of both. Its also extremely easy and relaxing to do. This is a new innovation created by combining clinically proven slow breathing techniques with real music. Practicing gentle breathing exercises while relaxing to beautiful music is something anyone can do regardless of age or physical condition. And it doesnt matter how high your blood pressure is or whether you take medications or not. Breathing has been used as a healing tool by many people for ages. Its also recognized as the most immediate way to relieve stress, panic or anger, which not so coincidentally also raise blood pressure. Even if you don’t have high blood pressure, these techniques can help calm you when you are angry or stressed. Have you ever been told to take a deep breath when you were upset? Psychologists often urge their stressed or angry patients to do deep breathing exercises. Deep, slow breathing works on many levels. It can easily be done everyday without taking up a lot of time and once you get used to it, you may find yourself enjoying it so much youll want to do it everyday. It could even become a daily routine before bed, which will help you sleep better. Simply sit back and relax, put on some slow, soothing music and breathe deeply and slowly. Be sure to ignore any advice you may have heard before about counting your breaths or doing complicated breathing patterns. These are sure to ruin your relaxation and without that your breathing wont get you the results youre after. With slow breathing, the more relaxed you are, the greater the benefits. With the right, slow tempo music such as a classical adagio your breathing will naturally slow to below 10 breaths per minute. Thats the range thats clinically proven to lower high blood pressure. If you don’t have any suitable music, look for a CD of slow, relaxing music, the type made for relaxation or meditation. There are even programs on the market made specifically for slow breathing. Be sure to breathe deeply and slowly, yet comfortably and gently. Overdoing it will result in hyperventilation. You will get better at it once you get used to it. Using this easy method just 15 minutes a day, you could see a nice drop in your blood pressure within just a few weeks. Whats more, it will relax you, reduce stress and anxiety and can even improve your sleep. Breathing exercises, as confirmed scientifically, can help millions of people that are suffering from high blood pressure as well as anxiety and anger problems. How To REALLY Look For A Job

By Kevin Donlin Are you looking for a job — really looking? Or are you simply waiting for employment to fall into your lap? If you’re like about 75% of the job seekers I’ve met over the past nine years, you’re probably doing too much waiting and not enough searching. Stop. Now. Instead, here are two ways to be more proactive — and much more effective — in your job search. 1) Stop waiting for job leads to appear. Start making your own. Here’s a real estate analogy that directly relates to your job search. (Trust me.) Where would you rather buy a 3-bedroom house, in Japan or the United States? Considering the price would be about $2 million in Japan vs. about $200,000 in the US, you’d likely opt for an American home. And why is Japanese real estate so pricey? Mainly because only about 15% of Japan is habitable. The remaining 85% of land there is too mountainous to build on. So prices are driven into the stratosphere by the intense competition for prime real estate. Well, the traditional employment market is just like Japanese real estate. Advertised job openings — those listed on the Internet or in newspaper classifieds — are only about 15% of the market. Yet, this is where about 80-90% of job seekers spend most of their time looking so the competition is fierce. And, like Japanese real estate, you are far less likely to find what you want. It’s far better to spend most of your time looking for jobs that are not advertised, since you’ll have less competition. And how can you find unadvertised job leads? The two best ways I know are: a) Calling employers to ask for an interview (explained in a prior article of mine, here – http://www.gresumes.com/marky-stein-clients.htm) b) Networking more effectively Since so many people get networking so wrong, I’ll tackle that one next … 2) Stop waiting for people to hand you job leads. Start networking right. Here’s a recent email from an unhappy job seeker with a common — and completely wrong — negative attitude about networking: — Past experience has shown that most people will only help you when it directly benefits them, such as when there is an incentive hiring plan. For many years, I have tried to keep in touch with numerous people I knew very well. Most refuse to even answer. No returned emails, calls, etc. If people won’t even answer, they certainly will not help you. I would speculate that 98% of the time when I contact past acquaintances, I get the cold shoulder. Jim, Pennsylvania — Like most job hunters who network unsuccessfully, Jim is asking the wrong questions. And getting the wrong answers. And not getting hired. Instead of, “Why won’t anyone return my calls or give me job leads?” Jim (and you) should ask, “How could I give people a reason to contact me with job leads?” This simple change in mindset will make all the difference. Try it and see. Here are more questions to ask yourself if your networking is not panning out. * How can I make networking a two-way street, and do something that benefits the people I want job leads from? * What news/tips/advice/suggestions could I give to people in my network FIRST, which would ethically obligate them to help me in return? * Who else could I be networking with? * How many new people have I met this week who could give me job leads AFTER I help them out in some way? I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: Networking is like skiing. If you give up and say, “It didn’t work for me,” it’s because you weren’t doing it right. Period. Here’s hoping these two ways to uncover job leads and network better will help you get hired fast. Now, go out and make your own luck! Kevin Donlin is President of Guaranteed Resumes. THE Dating Secret You Must Understand

By Stephen N. Want to know why you are unsuccessful with women? It might masquerade as shyness, nerves, neediness, lack of style, bad breath, or body odor. Want to know the real answer? Its simple and its true Insecurity I cover this in detail in my ebook, How To Get A Girlfriend, but for now lets accurately define security. Then, lets consider how this relates to being attractive. Lets also try to keep this simple, because this is a topic we cover at length in our products and consultations which takes time to get handled. Let me give you our definition of security: A willingness to accept myself as I am, strengths and weaknesses and then the determination to work towards a healthy ideal for myself. A man who is secure realizes his weaknesses, and then addresses them. Some weaknesses (better known as challenges) are tougher to handle than others. A patient, deliberate effort may have to follow. If a guy has bad breath, for example, is it because he just ate a dish filled with garlic or does he suffer from gingivitis? If its the garlic causing the problem, his problem is easily remedied by a bit of time and some mouthwash. If he has gingivitis or halitosis, the challenge becomes larger and will take more time to surmount. (Although, he should carry some Cool Mint Listerine PocketPaks with him at all times) A guy who is secure with himself likely never encounters a challenge like bad breath, or if he does, he handles it right away. An insecure guy will be too lazy to take the action, or will unconsciously reject the reality that he has bad breath. His fragile self-esteem will not accept the information, thus he continues to create bad impressions on other people due to his own unwillingness. This mini-example can translate to virtually any challenge which we encounter through our lives. Most guys live lives that are so out of balance, that a woman might initially like you, but when she eventually sees the chaos that follows you around (whether it be bad breath, flailing friendships, insecurity, lack of focus, endless hours surfing the web, messy apartment, the list goes on) she will never really see you as a viable companion because she knows, intuitively, and biologically, that you are not a man in the truest sense. You are not someone who can provide securitythusly you are not attractive to her. Here is where we separate the men from the boys. The boys right now are thinking, This is a load of BS. A bunch of feel good jargon. This will never work for me. They are right, it never will until they decide to face their lives and live like a man. A man sees this and realizes that it is time, now, to step up to the plate and take responsibility. He sees that he can get what is rightfully his. That time is now. Women are seeking a man who is secure with himself, and is able to provide it to her consistently. These men reflect it with everything they do they always seem to be in control, they are sensitive to the needs of the moment, they rise to the occasion, they have a focused purpose in their life, and are comfortable in their own skin. Their life naturally validates them internally, and thusly, they feel complete. They are attractive, naturally. So, when you give that guy the ten magically perfect things to say to a woman, he only needs five, and even then he has overdone it Let me be clear I am not saying that you have to be rich or to have fully realized all of your goals in order to be successful with women. What I am saying is that it is critical to be on the path pursuing your goals. Men who live with passion and direction are magnets for women because they are attractive. Quality women are desperate for men whose lives are focused, balanced, and filled with purpose. In conclusion!: The Single Most Perfect Piece Of Advice That I Can Give You Is: You Must Get Your Life In Order And Moving Forward To Have Anything Close To A Meaningful Relationship With A Quality Woman. Diet Free Weight Loss

By Josue Cano Are you in a diet mentality? If you are experiencing deprivation in your current approach to weight loss then chances are you are in a diet mentality. If your current approach to weight loss is to restrict yourself or use words such as I cant eat that or that is restricted then you are in a diet mentality. Imagine experiencing losing weight without the stresses of dieting. Imagine dropping body fat eating foods like burgers, chocolate, Mexican food. Impossible you might say? Not so. Well look at the signs of a diet mentality thinker and take an approach toward weight loss where you dont stress out, where you dont worry, where you dont sabotage yourself. Current dieting Dieters today are concerned with keeping calories down and focus on deprivation. When you are worried about dropping body fat to the point where you are not enjoying the process then you are in a diet mentality. The 3 Ds to diets The first D of dieting is deprivation. When you set your mindset up for deprivation it is only a matter of time before you stress about missing out on foods that a dieter would eliminate from their diet. When stress takes place then you worry about sabotaging your efforts. The second D of dieting is disappointment. After the deprivation, stress, and worry the next eventual step is disappointment. Chances are that all dieters have been derailed from their diet and have eaten forbidden foods. When that takes place, disappointment sets in. This then leads to the third D which is depression. After the deprivation, disappointment depression soon follows. A dieter gets depressed because their diet has set them up for failure. Hope has been lost and their goals to drop weight and keeping it off have been compromised. Depression sets in and the cycle is repeated. Living diet free Living diet free means dropping body fat and keeping it off for good while not experiencing the deprivation, disappointment, and depression of dieting. It means not stressing out and worrying about gaining weight. It means enjoying the process of dropping body fat instead of loathing it or hating to do those steps required to drop body fat. Does it sound too good to be true? Not at all. You need C.A.P. to drop body fat C = choice: you have to accept that you have a choice every moment of your life. This lesson was taught to me by my mentor Robert Ferguson. By acknowledging that you have a choice you keep your power. It means you dont sabotage or collapse. It means that you maintain and improve and move closer and closer to living diet free. A = acceptance: you have to accept that there are principles that if broken or compromised will result in undesirable results. For example, if you drink heavily (especially late night) you will gain body fat if not addressed or taken care of. If you eat the foods that cause body fat on a regular basis (and alcohol is one of them) then you will gain body fat. You have to accept the consequences when you do anything that jeopardizes your goals. P = perception: self perception is one of the most powerful tools that you have to employ in your arsenal to destroy dieting. Your perception of yourself has to match your goals. In other words, if you dont see yourself being lean, diet free then you wont be. How many people have you met who have lost weight only to gain it back? Most of us. The secret to permanent weight loss is seeing yourself not ever being overweight again. Your self-image has to match the goals you want to achieve. Its that simple. However, its only one tool of many to employ to live diet free. There are several steps to living diet free. These are only a few that I have mentioned. The goal is to destroy the diet mentality way of thinking so that you dont experience loss of self which leads to self sabotage. When self sabotage takes place then relapse takes place. Meaning, you will gain the weight back. Take my word for it. I use to be overweight and at one point use to have an eating disorder. I experienced those feelings of depression, loneliness, guilt, failure and sabotage. Check out my website: www.josuecano.com and you can read about my story. I am hear to share with you the trials and tribulations of my journey toward living diet free. Now is the time. “Cap” Josue Cano B.A. C.S.C.S., is a specialized strength and boxing trainer working 1-on-1 with clients who just authored the book: Don’t wait get in S.H.A.P.E.: drop body fat fast and get fit quick. Understanding Celtic Wedding Rings

By Marc Choyt Thousands of years ago, the Celts, a group of independent tribes spread throughout much of current day Europe, were sophisticated artisans, carving knot work patterns that have inspired modern day jewelers to create wedding rings. These motifs have meaning. Yet understanding the knot patterns and why they make such ideal wedding rings can be illusive. The ancient motifs are rooted in mysterious cultures that stretch back well before written history. Though the earliest written accounts of the Celts were from Roman descriptions, some knot work motifs found in Eastern Europe may be as old as 20,000 years. We know the Celts, similar to Native people of North America, viewed that the earth itself as well as all aspects of life and death as divine. They had a large and varied pantheon, worshipping local gods. The natural world was considered sacred, and every river, mountain and tree had its own spirit of place. Rituals were rooted in a particular oak grove or waterfall. Early Celtic leaders even mocked human-like images of Olympian gods or the wild animals of their vale and forests. Knot work, which has become synonymous with todays idea of Celtic was undoubtedly a form of sacred, artistic expression. Some of the most famous designs were preserved in highly embellished, illuminated manuscripts, such as the Book of Kells which somehow survived the Viking invasions. It was created in the 9th century at a monastery off the Scottish coast, and depicts wonderfully imaginative images of humans and animals embellished with knot work motifs, linking medieval Christianity with ancient Druidic culture. In Western culture, there is a long and venerable tradition of artists that have been inspired by knot work motifs. Celtic design was particularly popular in the Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael studied and depicted knots in their work. In modern times, some of Picassos early art is highly influenced by knot work. And there has always been a group of metal and visual artists that have kept the Celtic fires burning by using the knot work patterns in jewelry and other forms of artistic expression. For some people, the choice to have a Celtic wedding ring is an expression of their wish to connect deeply into their own ancestry. They feel empathy with a European based tribal tradition that treats the earth as Mother. Its also easy to fall in love with soulful Celtic music and poetry. Others simply want the one piece of jewelry that they wear every day to have a beautiful design with significance. Whether one has Celtic heritage or not, a Celtic motif wedding ring is appropriate because it has universal, symbolic meaning. In the most general sense, the knots express two different paths woven together. Life itself can be viewed as a great web of interconnectedness which is expressed in the knot work. Even our own spiritual path, metaphorically, can be viewed as a tapestry of interconnected experiences. The Celtic wedding ring is a talisman which reminds us, in physical form, of our mystic connection with another person and the great web of life. This weave of particular experiences makes us unique, which is why we are attracted to some knot work patterns on wedding rings more than others. What appeals to you and your fianc may well bring insight to the nature of your relationship. Some couples are attracted to knot work motifs that are simple and flowing, which perhaps illustrates a partnership based on harmony and ease. Other knot work designs on wedding rings are more dynamic and complicated, suggesting creative elements, or passionate peaks and valleys. Many Celtic merchants will label a particular design as Friendship or Unity but often theres not any real basis for these labels. These facile tags short change the person interested in the ring by giving a concept instead of assisting them to understand the deeper meaning behind the design. Its also easy enough to say that the ring is about how all things are interconnected, but this is so general that it doesnt help explain why we may be attracted to the sacred geometry of one ring over another. To do this, you can contemplate the various components that make up the knot work and try to determine how they are functioning. For example, consider the circle. We speak of a circle of friends and live in circular cycles, such as the day and the season. Native cultures throughout the world hold ceremonies in protective circles. A knot work pattern with circles or variations of circles certainly has some important keys to relationships and community. In the broadest sense, the ring itself is a circle, and putting it on has also always been symbolic of sealing a commitment. A square knot motif concerns structure, which is why buildings use the shape of a square foundation. Squares certainly have an element of stability. Numbers were a significant part Celtic lore, and the number five represented the four directions and the center point. Many Celtic rings also deal with vectors that travel in a certain direction. If you look at the shape of an arrow, its easy to understand why a triangle might connote movement. Another common Celtic motif is the knot work depicting a trinity. Many Celtic deities had three forms. The Mother Goddess was understood to the maiden, mother and crone. The universe was viewed as heaven, earth and otherworld. We are born, we live and we die. Certainly the trinity knot also illustrates the One being dividing off into the masculine and feminine, or the mother and son– a mystical truth contemplated in many sacred traditions. While the above guide for understanding knot work is not necessarily based on any scholarly or anthropological text on the meaning of knots, it does provide a starting point that is based on a universal perspective. Every Celtic ring is going to have some variation of these shapes. Spending some time contemplating the motif may yield some insight. Though modern jewelry techniques allow a greater range of possibilities than the Celts had during the time of the Romans, finding an exceptional Celtic wedding ring at a local jewelry store may not be possible. The best place to search is on the internet, which has the widest selection. Today you can find rings made with platinum, or white and yellow gold accented with diamonds. Some of the most beautiful rings are bi-metal, where the knots are one color, such as white gold, while the rim of the ring might be yellow gold. There is a wide range of class and price. Your wedding ring is a once in a life time purchase that you will live with every day. It must be aesthetically beautiful. The knot work on the rings should be well executed. It should have some meaning that makes sense for you which should be explained on the website. The best jewelry designers offer engagement ring sets, along with the option of having a wider band for the gent and a narrower of the same knot work motif for the lady. Youll want it comfort fit, which means that the band tapers slightly toward the center, making it easy to wear. Since it is very likely within the course of a marriage that youll gain or loose twenty pounds, it is most advantageous to choose a ring with a sizing band. The company you choose should have a record of creditability backed up by customer service, guaranteeing their product. Give them a call and see if they are worthy of doing business with. A track record of timely delivery is also essential. Its not uncommon for a ring from outside the US to be held up by Customs, for example. Finally, the most important thing is to trust your feelings. The rings should be unique and resonate with your own profound, sacred connection and commitment to your beloved. Marc Choyt graduated from Brown University in 1984 with a degree in English. In 1995, he received an MA degree in Humanities from St. John’s College. In 1996, he and his wife, Helen Chantler, founded Reflective Images, a designer jewelry company specializing in contemporary Celtic jewelry. http://www.artisanweddingrings.com http://www.celticjewelry.com Please send email requests to marek@celticjewelry.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Marc_Choyt http://EzineArticles.com/?Understanding-Celtic-Wedding-Rings&id=21685 larger pay day loans with bad credit i have bad credit but need an unsecured loan payday loan no credit check texas cash out equity loan

What You Need To Know About Funeral Costs

By Morgan Hamilton It is undoubtedly true that when someone passes away it is a hard time for their loved ones. When preparing someone’s funeral you should take into consideration the funeral costs and the many things that must be calculated into them. There is one requirement according to which the funeral homes are obliged to provide you with a detailed amount for the cost of the funeral. Unless funeral costs are taken care of they can lead to serious financial difficulties. The financial situation of the deceased might not be good; so many years may pass until the bills for the funeral are paid off. All the funeral costs are given to the surviving family and relatives. Many people have life insurance which covers funeral costs. The administration costs of a funeral cover the embalming, the staff needed for the funeral and the facilities used such as chapel, preparation room and reception room. Another thing that should be thought about is transportation. The coffin should be moved from the chapel to service area and the transport should be previously arranged. Generally a limousine is used for the immediate family of the deceased but cars could also be rented for the other family members and the close friends of the departed. What is really expensive in a funeral is the coffin and a temporary grave marker. These are the merchandise costs that should be considered, as well. It is true that you can save some money by purchasing cheaper markers and coffins, however most families feel obliged to honor the deceased with the very best that can be offered. There are other aspects which should be accounted; these are the cash disbursements; some money should be set aside for flowers. Apart from flowers, you might buy a cemetery plot which should be added to the funeral costs. Printing materials could also add up to the costs as you will need obituaries, invitations, announcements and a death certificate. However, the main cost of cash disbursements comes from the headstone of the grave. Its price varies a lot and you can buy a cheap or a very expensive one depending on your finances. Other things which might be easily forgotten but should also be added to the funeral costs are guest books, honorariums and the price of food for the wake. When arranging a funeral most funeral homes will explain you all the different funeral costs and will leave you choose the best options for you. Then they will make all the arrangements needed for the funeral. The funeral costs are different in the different funeral homes but they all include the many costs we mentioned above. This information might be helpful to you in case you have to arrange a funeral. After all, the funeral should run smooth and you have to pay the funeral costs but you should watch out that you are not financially burdened with unforeseen costs. Negative Calorie Effect in Foods

By P. Mehta Negative Calorie Effect in Foods Whatever food we eat, our body has to work hard to digest it and absorb. Some foods need more energy than the others in the process of digestion. It is likely that there may be certain foods that require more calories to digest than the caloric content of the foods themselves. In fact there are certain foods in nature which possess this property. Such foods may be termed as negative calorie foods because these foods take these extra calories from the body fat. Similarly there may be foods that require the same amount of calories as the calorie content of these foods. Such foods are effectively of zero calorie. The secret of negative calorie effect lies in the fact that these foods use more calories to digest then actual calories. The overall effect of these negative calorie foods in our body is that of using calories from body. These foods are mostly natural plant foods like vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils and legumes. If you eat a food high in fat, your body will expand almost no calorie and the fat very easily goes to your waistline. On the other hand, the more you eat these negative calorie foods, the more you have a feeling of fullness, thereby leaving a little chance of eating other fatty and oily foods. The other important thing about these negative calorie foods is that these can form part of a perfectly balanced diet. There are a large number of foods that combine low calories, delicious taste, and excellent negative calorie properties. Include these foods in your daily meals. You will get maximum benefit if you eat them in raw natural form, with little butter or oil. The most important thing about these negative calorie foods is that you will never feel hungry if you are on a diet with negative calorie foods. Copyright 2004 P. Why Are You Using Cheesy Pickup Lines?

By Scott Patterson Using cheesy pickup lines can be a dangerous way to strike up a conversation with a woman. When you say them to women, you run the risk of annoying her and having her run for the hills. For instance, if you use any of these cheesy pick up lines, you’ll discover that women will think you’re an idiot: “Excuse meI have lost my phone number, can I borrow yours?” “Is it just me, or are we destined to be married?” “Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only TEN that I SEE!” “Do you clean your pants with Windex? Because I can see myself in them” “Hello, do you believe in love at first site? If so, should I walk by again?” “You must be religious, because you have “HeyI lost my puppy. Can you help me find him? I think he went into that cheap hotel across the road” “Hello, I’m easy. Are you?” “You have an incredible pair of legs! What time are they open?” “Hey, do you know karate, because your body is kickin” “Do you like dorky guys that live with their parents and have no money?” “If I start petting you, would you follow me home?” “Hey, I really like your peaches, wanna shake your tree!” “Are you feeling alright, because it must have been a far fall from heaven?” “Hello, Cupid just called. He wanted to have me tell you to give my heart back!” “You are an incredible thief, because you were able to steal my heart from across the room.” “Your eyes are blue like the ocean and I am completely lost at sea” “Well, here I am! What are you other two wishes?” Instead of trying to use cheesy pickup lines, you should instead use a more natural conversation starter. What you can do is notice something about a woman which makes her unique. Then go up to her and give a genuine compliment. It can be the way she dresses or how she interacts with her friends. Understanding Weeds – But mostly How to Kill ‘em

By Linda J Bruton When I was a child, I loved to pick Dandelions. The pretty yellow flowers were small, colorful, and looked nice tucked behind my ear! However, if one had popped up in the front yard, my hair accessory would have been considered an atrocity! I often feel sorry for weeds. They are plants too. In fact, if you flipped through a botany field guide, you may be surprised at the plants you find classified as weeds! But simply put, a weed is really defined as a plant out of place. Clover in one persons flowing lawn may be considered fashionable, whereas on another, not. Golf greens are often covered with bentgrass, but if it crept up in some yards, it would be considered a weed. While perhaps pretty on their own, weeds stick out like a sore thumb in yards because they may be of a different color, size or texture. This is distracting from the beauty of the otherwise sprawling green turf. Aside from aesthetic values, weeds can also drain nutrients from grass and other plants, and this competition of resources can thin what should be lush. And what’s worse is that weeds are fighters. They can withstand conditions that your wanted greens cannot, so they are almost inevitable! Treating weeds begins with correct identification. There are two classifications of weeds: Grassy and Broadleaf. These are further broken down into groups like perennial, biennial, and winter and summer annuals. These, as you may gave guessed, depict their growing patterns. Grassy weeds are, as they sound, like grass. However, they are unwanted grass, or grass that is growing in a different type of lawn. Some examples are annual bluegrass, barnyard grass, crabgrass, creeping bentgrass and foxtail. Broadleaf weeds may appear more to be what most people picture weed-like growth to be. Since they are broad, they are more easily distinguished. Some examples are yarrow, knotweed, chickweed, clover, ground ivy, thistle and my favorite, the dandelion. Once you understand what is growing in your lawn and decide that it is unwanted, you can treat it and/or control it. Weeds can actually be controlled by your lawn care maintenance. If you maintain a dense and vigorously growing lawn, you are already combating the problem. Weeds can be a sign of underlying problems in the environment beneath. So by just killing them, you are simply putting on a band-aid, not solving the problem. For example, some weeds grow in situations of compacted soil, such as knotweed. You can also control the growth by taking better care of the grass, rather than focus on the weeds. You can raise or lower the mowing height, change the frequency of mowing and changing the amount of time between irrigating. Also, you can increase or decrease application of fertilizer and aerify the soil. This will maintain better grass, thus keeping the growth dense and vigorous, which as discussed above, does not attract weeds. In addition to culture practices, sometimes the assistance of chemicals is needed to control weed growth. In that case, there are several types of herbicides that can be used. Preemergence herbicides will affect seeds that are germinating. Since they are best used two to three weeks before the seeds start to grow, these work best to combat annual weeds. Postmergence herbicides are used, as their prefix implies, after the weeds have sprouted. Since they must be absorbed through the leaves, this types of herbicide works best with a spray. These can be used at any time, but are most effective when the weed is still young and growing. Selective postmergence herbicides are usually used to control annual, biennial and perennial broadleaf weeds, as they will not damage grass. But, they can kill trees, shrubs and flowers. These have to be used in proper conditions as well, with no rain in the forecast for two days to follow, air 60-80 degrees and no winds. Finally, non-selective postmergence herbicides kill all types of weeds, and are best used to spot treat grassy weeds that are not affected by the selective herbicides. So next time you see a Dandelion plant growing, don’t make a wish and blow the seeds toward in the direction of a lawn fanatic- they may not get the perfectly manicured lawn they wished for! How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Dress

By Hellen Mcmaster A long formal dress is suitable for a church wedding of a civil ceremony although many brides do prefer wearing a smart dress or tailored suit for the Registry office. Some religions also frown on sleeveless dresses or low cut outfits and this will need to be taken into account too. No matter which style you pick, remember that the back view is as important as the front, you will have you back to everyone during the ceremony. Choose fabric that is resistant to crushing and creasing Detachable trains that can be removed or hooked up are also wise. Dress ideas and colours will need to be discussed with the groom without revealing all the details so that the colours and styles of the wedding party can be coordinated. Look in the mirror Be realistic and dont try and aim for what Hollywood starlets look like on their wedding days, most of us dont have personal trainer and chefs to look after us and help keep us in shape. Dont set your goal posts too close to the moon, you will only be disappointed and feel like a failure when your big day is meant to be a celebration of your love for one another. Concentrate on the real you! Think about what you normally wear, what colours suit you and which styles flatter you figure and most important, which outfits make you feel on top of the world, What type of ceremony and theme are you looking to create- traditional or relaxed, formal or informal. Colours White dresses are not obligatory these days, if you dont feel white is your colour or will complement you then dont wear it Wedding gowns are becoming increasingly popular in cream, pale gold, pale blue, pale pink and red. There is also a trend these days to go for darker colours like burgundy or shades of green which is a beautiful idea for a Christmas wedding. You will feel better in a dress that flatters your complexion or one of your favourites instead of going with white because it seems to be the norm. If wearing a bright coloured dress the details should be kept to a minimum. The Right Style for your Shape Choosing a style that flatters your shape can make a huge difference to how you look and also give you a huge confidence booster Trying on dresses that either dont suit your body or the ceremony is not only a waste of time but can also depress you and you might find that you give in a buy the wrong dress anyway. A sure fire way to put a dampener on your big day. Tall and Thin Choose a ball gown with a strapless, fitter bodice Bony shoulders or collar bones can will suit dresses with a higher neckline that are long and fitted If you feel you are too thin for this style consider that you can set of your height and leanness with some delicate detailed embroidery or beading. Short with a fuller, feminine Figure Try an empire line dress which has a seam under the bust line and in the right fabric, the dress will flow instead of cling A Knee length dress will also look good, the longer dress will add height and give you a taller silhouette Sleeves should also be long but not too tight if considered. Thick Waist Conceal a wide waist with a boned corset or wear a decorative jacket that falls just below the waistline Avoid fitted ballerina styles Very Full Bust To draw attention away from the bust choose a dress with a long bodice or cowl neck Dresses with a natural waistline will draw attention to the bust area Pick a plain bodice and avoid low necklines Pick a detailed hem if you want to add a little something that you feel might be missing on the top Full or Wide Hips Avoid bustles and ruffles or tiered dresses Most styles will look great but avoid tight styles around the hips Princess styles that are fitted on the top and flare slightly to the hem will help disguise larger hips Ball gown styles in simple fabrics will also draw attention away from the hips Big bottom Avoid bows or back fastening ties Consider a light train from the top of the bodice or waist Wide Shoulders Wide straps will narrow the appearance of your shoulders or cover then completely Draw the focus to a v-neckline Wearing a sheer wrap will also soften the effect Do not wear puffed sleeves, dont even consider them! Short or heavy legs Opt for a long dress Sheath styles which are straight but not too clingy will add height Short Arms Three Quarter length sleeves will be flattering Do not go sleeveless Chubby Arms Choose long simple sleeves that are not too tight Wear a bolero, shrug or wrap Pregnant Brides Maternity bridal wear is a fairly specialist item to fin and not offered at standard bridal shops. Having a bump does not equal frump. Pregnant brides can still have the dress of the dreams. If you are having a baby or have just had a baby then take into account the fact that you are going to have long day, so go for comfort when choosing what to wear. Dont try to squeeze in a corset style dress in the size you used to be. Your dress will have to allow for your changing shape and you will need to find a reliable dress maker for last minute alterations. If you want to disguise the pregnancy go for a dress that is one size up and getting the bust altered. A big bouquet will also disguise the tummy area. You do not need to sacrifice style to be comfortable, tight waists and figure hugging dresses with tightly laced bodices are not worth sparing a thought for as they will only torment you on your special day. Focus on showing off your new curves with a focus on the shoulders or bust Styles that are perfect for the pregnant bride are Empire lines, princess lines or A line dresses. These styles flare from under the bust, the empire line has a straighter skirt. A Chiffon overlay can be added to soften the lines of your dress or opt for a medieval style dress with long flowing sleeves. Some guidelines when deciding on a dress: Try on as many different styles as you like and view them from as many different angles as possible, take some shoes along that will be similar in height to the ones you may wear. To get the full effect have the shop fit you out in a veil with the dress as you wont want to take your wedding dress with you when you go veil shopping Take your time to make a decision and dont feel pressured by pushy sales people. How much deposit is required and when is the balance due Does the price include VAT How much extra are the alterations How far before the wedding must you order How many fitting will be required and do they offer Saturday or after hours fittings Can you arrange a fitting with accessories, lingerie and shoes Get confirmation of all appointments and money paid in writing How far before the wedding will the dress arrive Do the shop offer storage garment bags Ask about the care instructions for getting the crease out before your big day What is the shops policy on cancellations Have you added the dress to your wedding insurance If you are going to hire your dress, check to see if the chosen dress will be available on your day, cleaned and ready for collection. Does the hire price include a full 24 hours. Does the dress have to be cleaned before its returned (an added expense) After the wedding who will be entrusted with delivering the dress back to the hire shop as it should be I am a wedding preffessional helping brides fid the perfect dress and accessorries at http://www.everyweddingthing.co.uk as well as designing wedding stationery and favours to complete the big day.
